So for some reas
on the TV came on with MTV showing last night. Not sure why, it isn’t one of my usual channels but on came a show called True Life. If you have never seen it then basically it is a documentary style ‘real life’ show about people with ‘real issues’.
Some of the topics are obviously better than others while others are just literally unbelievable. Last nights… Well if that’s ‘True Life’ I’m glad it ain’t mine!
But it got me thinking… If the only ‘true life’ our kids see is on the TV (which isn’t really true life at all because everyone knows they go looking for the most far out, crazy, whackpot ideas they can find to make ‘entertaining’ TV) then what will that produce? Call me old fashioned but who is teaching our kids today about the core values of society that were so important yesterday. Doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do is just not ‘cool’ anymore, get away with whatever you can is the message that replaced it.
Loving others and respecting them is another one that seems to have been swapped out. Now kids grow up thinking it’s ok to ignore everyone else unless there is some benefit to them in which case using them is just fine. Even Facebook isn’t called ‘Friend Networking’ but rather ‘Social Networking’. How many people on your facebook list are actually really good friends and how many are just there because you knew them at some point in life?
You don’t have to believe in the Bible to recognize that some of the cultural shifts in attitude are detrimental to society as a whole. Would the world look different today if we still lived by yesterday’s standards? Admittedly we might think they are a little old fashioned but ultimately, yes it would.

I will do whatever it takes. Sign me up baby!!!!
